Poderi Crisci Vineyard and Winery, set in a stunning amphitheatre surrounded by vines and olive trees, has fast become the quintessence of what in Italy is called: Agroturismo. The narrow rocky strip underlying Poderi Crisci is believed to be 30 million years older than the rest of the Island, boasting soil criss-crossed with mineralised veins. We are a small family owned vineyard and winery on picturesque Waiheke Island, just off the coast of Auckland, New Zealand. Our venture into the art of wine making fist started with Merlot; however we now offer a variety of wines to satisfy any wine connoisseur.
We have discovered a special place to grow our unique wines. On a narrow rocky strip of land that is believed to be 30 million years older than the rest of the Island, we have planted our 10 acre vineyard.
Our site is a north facing slope of stony clay soil studded with manganese nodules. Being boutique in size allows us to carry out most of the vineyard work by hand.
Our focus is on quality above all else. All the fruit used for Poderi Crisci wines is estate grown and selectively hand harvested. The grapes are sorted at the vine to ensure that only the very best fruit comes into the winery, a second more intensive sorting process is then carried out prior to crushing.
