A great example of a Merlot Bianco style wine in the fashion of the southern French and Italian Roses. From Merlot grapes, the 2012 Rose displays light summer fruits with a flinty earthy character. The Salmon blush hints at the body, light and playful, a fresh lively Rosé, with a great structure with a very refreshing palate, dry style with a lingering fresh finish to stand up to all great summer luncheons.

Poderi Crisci Novello 2012 (Merlot)

Following the tradition of Vino Novello, (Fr. Nuevo Boujelais) we have used only very traditional wine making methods to produce a wine that is floral and fresh. Displaying ruby and crimson colours, a forward and flinty, quince nose give way to a smooth soft fruity palate with a hint of tannins and ripe blackberry. The fruit was destemmed and the whole fruit placed in oak. This allowed the fruit to ferment naturally, with its own sugars and yeasts doing all the work.  This carbonic maceration fermentation period gave us hints of what was to follow, Aromas of chocolate and dark plum, with over ripe berries and a touch of spice. The Novello consists of 100% Merlot and suggests that 2012 will become known as memorable Vintage.

Poderi Crisci “Nostrum” 2011 (Merlot / Cabernet Franc)

In the Tuscan tradition of Table wine, Poderi Crisci produced “Nostrum”. The name taken from the latin for “Ours”. This merlot predominant blend was 12 months in french oak, and the floral and fruity characteristics of the Cabernet Franc make this wine especially approachable and welcoming in any season. On the nose Maraschino cherry and doris plum with hints of charred wood. Also cocoa and spice. The palate is entertained with concentrated black fruit coulis and jams, leather and earthen notes lead to a finish ripe with nutty tannins.

Poderi Crisci “Viburno” 2008 (Merlot / Cabernet Franc)

Viburno is a symbol of the Mediterranean environment (Macchia Mediterranea) being since the Roman times a plant of triumph and of good auspicious, Our “Viburno” is synonymous of strength and elegance with the blending of Merlot and Cabernet Franc (Super Waiheke inspired from the early Super Tuscan Wine) 2008 Vintage 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Intense blackberry and dark cherry with a nice leathery spicy (black olives) background. Very full bodied, rich ripe black fruits (Morello cherries, black plum) with some notes of chocolate / cocoa. This is a wine with great structure, luscious and mouth coating tannins and a very long persistent finish

Poderi Crisci “Viburno” 2009 (Merlot / Cabernet Franc)

Following the success of the 2008 vintage, the 2009 Viburno again benefited from 18 months in French Barriques. The 2009 vintage displays stronger notes and a more refined balance, offering a very concentrated nose exhibiting cigar & black fruit with brushed leather and intense spiciness. Very driven yet elegant, a full palate offers black fruit, blackberry jam and elderberry. Being a younger wine, the 2009, although drinking very well, is still a little shy of its true potential. A firm structure gives way to let the wine open and offer even more forest fruits  and dark mushrooms when decanted.
